NNIN INVITATION FOR PROGRAM PARTICIPATION
NANOSCIENCE WORKSHOP
FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE AND MATH EDUCATORS
April 17-19, 2008     University of New Mexico     Albuquerque, New Mexico

You are cordially invited to join your fellow science and math educators
from all over New Mexico in the 2008 Nanoscience Workshop to be held at
the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 17-19, 2008,
sponsored by University of New Mexico, Center for High Technology
Materials, and National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network.  The
workshop will include sessions on introductory nanoscience, bio-fuel
cells, nano-photonics, solid state lightening, bio-nanotechnology, ethics
in nanotechnology, hydrogen fuel cells, soft lithography, and laboratory
exercises to provide teacher-participants with inquiry-based opportunities
to explore properties of nanomaterials.  Participants will receive and
build a hydrogen fuel cell car kit, explore New Mexico science and math
standards-based activities with the car, and participate in a competition
with other attendees.


Workshop Highlights. Free fuel cell car kit with 30 New Mexico math and
science standards-based student projects and experiments!  Great
opportunities to network with your fellow science educators!  Hands-on,
inquiry lab activities for your students!

Where?  The workshop will be held at the University of New Mexico,
Albuquerque, New Mexico.

When?  The workshop will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday, April 17, 2008 and end
Saturday, April 19 at about 1:30 PM.  We will be in session all day
Friday.

Graduate Credit Available.  One graduate credit is available from the
University of New Mexico for successful completion of the workshop.

Cost.  THE WORKSHOP IS FREE!  The fuel cell car will be provided for each
teacher at no cost.  Participants traveling from out of town will be
reimbursed for lodging following full participation in the workshop.
Meals provided include light snacks throughout the workshop, continental
breakfasts Friday and Saturday, lunch on Friday.  All participants
completing the full workshop will receive a $100 stipend.  IMPORTANT:
Mileage, per diem, or substitute costs are NOT PAID by this grant. These
are the responsibility of the teacher.

Lodging.  Out-or-town participants will be reimbursed for lodging
following completion of the workshop.  Lodging information is available
after you register for the workshop.
