Dear Principals, Teachers, and Students:

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the
Southwest Junior Science and Humanities Symposium to be
held March 26-30, 2009 at the MCM Eleganté Hotel in
Albuquerque, NM. If you have students who have completed
scientific research, they may apply to present their work
at the symposium. The meeting provides an opportunity for
outstanding students to share their research and compete
for scholarships. The top five symposium winners are
invited to go on to the 46th National Junior Science and
Humanities Symposium which is to be held in Colorado
Springs, CO April 30-May 3, 2009. At the nationals, two
students will participate in the paper competition and one
in the poster competition.

If your students would like to attend, please contact me
or go to our website at http://www.unm.edu/~jshs/ for more
information about the Symposium. I am also attaching the
application materials to speed up the process. All work
may be submitted electronically to tctrujil at unm.edu. We
ask that your students submit Abstracts along with
Literature review, Hypothesis and Methods and Materials by
Feb. 23, 2009. Permission slips are within the
application packet and they must also be turned in by Feb.
23, 2009. Completed papers with results and conclusion
should be turned in by March 4, 2009. Papers will be
reviewed and presenters for the symposium will be selected
by March 6, 2009. As soon as the presenters are
determined, the teacher and school will be contacted.

If you need further information regard the Southwest
Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, please contact me
